What happened to the briefs link that was at the top of the index page? And where did the white background come from? I liked the grey background, it was soothing on my eyes and made stuff easier to read. Tod Engine Foundation todengine@woh.rr.com |

The briefs link, and all the others crawled off to the side of the screen, where, once they are downloaded, they're there, and you don't have to keep downloading them, which makes the pages load faster, reduces bandwidth, and, incidentally, makes the nav bars go away, which is a lot easier on aspiring webmasters to maintain. The white background is a question of taste. I guess if enough people wanted gray back that could be arranged. I think the white and brown look good. Railway Preservation News hkading@rypn.org |

OK now I see. I had to go in from the main page and not through my normal direct link to get the sidebar to appear. todengine@woh.rr.com |

Hume, There has been a problem with the board that has been driving me nuts ever since you made the change. It seems that when I am reading down the posts on the interchange and have finished with a post I don't have the option of using my "back" bar. I have to go over and click on "interchange" again and this brings me back to where I am at the top of the page and I have to scroll back down the page to find my place again. This becomes really frustrating if there are a lot of posts and the place I am reading is well down the list. It only happens on this website so I know it isn't just our computer. By the way, no offense, but I really did like it better before you changed everything. I also no longer get a percentage count on how much has loaded when I click on a post, that was easier because I could tell if there was a malfunction somewhere and gave me a clue on how to remedy certain problems.Change is good but I don't think I really like this one. Just my opinion but I know you said you welcomed feedback. Just Train Crazy, -Angie Ladypardus@cs.com |

Well Angie, my back button works fine. Not sure why your's doesn't. Which browser are you using? One solution is to access the Interchange directly at the link below, and then bookmark it. Not a perfect solution but make life easier until we can figure out why your back button doesn't work. Anybody have any ideas? Direct link to the Interchange hkading@rypn.org |

Not ganging up here, but gray was definitely easier on the eyes, and I too miss having the link to the briefs here on this page. Stvee01@aol.com |

Hume, I did what you said about bookmarking this link and my back button works here. Don't know why but my guess is that it has something to do with that side menu that doesn't show up on this link. It looks more like the old "interchange" page. I am using Internet Explorer 5.0 as my browser. It doesn't seem to matter with any other website and it didn't matter with the interchange until the change was made. Do you know if anyone else is having this problem? It really isn't too inconvenient unless there are a lot of posts and they range far down the page.Such as tonight when there were 41 posts and they were all over the place. In certain older browsers like Netscape 4.x, there are issues when you are inside a frame set like RyPN. The Back button works to take you back one page in the frame set when you click the button once. But, the list the button produces does not show those different pages within the frame set through which you have passed. This problem does not occur in IE 5.5 or Netscape 6. Netscape 6 shows all those 'sub-pages' by the titles of the framset and IE 5.5 shows them by the titile of main frame. Curiously Mozilla 0.9.2 will not display the RyPN framset at all. Don't know why. Railroad Wheel FAQ ebtrr@spikesys.com |
