With the discussion of the future of RyPN, it got me wondering how many RyPN readers read the "Flimsies". I'm starting a poll to find out how much it is read, since only one person mentioned Flimsies in the RyPN future discussions. Thanks for your input.

I know several people who only come to RyPN for Flimsies and never post, so this poll may well not reach those who are most affected by its result.

Boyd -

I guess I don't like the YES/NO aspect of this poll. If there had been two other choices such as FAIRLY OFTEN and VERY RARELY, I think you might have had a better chance of finding out how the Flimsies section gets read.

True, I should have used more than just yes or no to get a better feel for how often people read the Flimsies. I was just getting the feeling that very few people were reading them since they only came up once in the discussion of RyPNs future, and also the fact that some people lately seem to prefer posting their news links on the interchange, instead of in Flimisies, even though most of the time they duplicate links already in Flimsies.

"Flimsies" is the first thing I check when coming to RyPN. I enjoy reading what's happening all over the spectrum of Railway preservation activities.

Up until recently I was one of the users who only read the flimsies, never the interchange. I think the flimsies are very important, but I feel they need to be supplemented more by articles from the base organizations (museums, railroads, historical societies, etc.) since the news media is incapable of giving as much detail as those in the preservation community desire.

It could have been more people like me. I consider the "flimsies" to Be RYPN. I took it for granted they would make the move.

Thanks Everyone for all the input. Overwelmingly, Flimsies definately is a very popular part of RyPN. I'll keep the news links coming.

I very much appreciate the Flimsie articles. I check them every day BEFORE going to the interchange. It is an important means of gaining knowledge of what is going on in railway preservation and rail museum and tourist line operation from the public's (media but sometimes with public quotes) perspective. Please continue them.
