Were Belpaire boiler's ever used in power plants? The reason I ask ( I can hear everyone groan) is that some 14 years ago I was in a scrap yard in PA and I saw two Belpaire boiler's there that were about the size of a 2-8-0, but, the smoke boxes had been modified to accomodate a large smoke stack. Now, before anyone calls me nuts I did photograph them, but it will require some digging to find them.
Has anyone else seen them used this way before?

Never heard of that application, but I'd be seriously interested in your posting the pictures and possibly giving an archaeologists leg up on where these boiler might be located. Just don't tell me they are at the bottom of a reservoir!

I seriously doubt any Belpaire boilers were ever built specifically for stationary service, but quite a few former locomotive boilers wound up in stationary service.
