| Post subject: | John Greco passes. |
This email was received from the head of Cal Osha's pressure vessel division this morning: "It is with great sorrow that I inform you that John Greco passed away from leukemia Tuesday morning. He was 62 years old. Most of you know John as the owner of Bay City Boiler and Engineering Co, one of the premiere boiler repair firms in Northern California. John was a long time supporter of the CBIA. The annual Bay City Boiler Christmas party was a highlight of the year with this years having been especially poignant. John had a keen interest in historical boilers and locomotives. You might have seen the photo of the San Francisco Zoo’s “Little Puffer” steam train in the San Francisco Chronicle Magazine in December. John built this boiler for the zoo." John was a great supporter and active participant in rail preservation on the West Coast. Many locomotives- full size and miniature, are still in operation thanks to his expertise. The boiler his company built for my 15" gauge 0-4-0 is truly a work of art. He will be missed. Chris Allan |
