Boy, I was doing a triple-take there for a minute--one, how a GP30 weighed only 40 tons, and two, how the devil that GP30 kept hiding from me every time I was at the Clarkdale roundhouse!

I presume that SRMG is the parent company of the Arizona Central, the parent company of the Verde Canyon? Please correct me if I'm wrong and there's someplace else to hide a 40-tonner in Clarkdale.......

Anyhow, congratulations to the ASRM.

Actually, Salt River Materials is separate from the Arizona Central (to my understanding), though the AZ Central switches the plant.

I need to actually ride the train for once down there, as I haven't rode it since I was about 8... even though I have family down there in Cottonwood.

Boy, talk about rapid product development at EMD. From the NW-2 in 1947 to the GP-30 only six years later? I think the GP-30 date is off by maybe ten years-
