A new hour-length documentary on the history of the Pennsylvania RR will air on WHYY TV Channel 12 in Philadelphia on Tuesday, January 15 at 8 p.m. It tells the story of the rise of the company, explores the work of 19th c. Pennsylvania photogrpaher William Rau and examines the railroad's eventual decline in the 20th c. Many former PRR employees as well as scholars and historians are featured; archival footage and photographs culled from the Hagley Musuem and Library and Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania collections will be featured as well. The documentary is also slated for broadcast in several other Pennsylvania PBS markets later in the year so check your local listings.
