What are most folks using to finish staybolt heads these days? Rivet snaps? Is there a source for old style staybolt snaps with the nipple for the telltale hole? Have folks turned/ground rivet snaps to similar shape of fashion?

I did some searching in the forum and old threads, and found much info about air hammers and rivet snaps for driving rivets through sheets, but not so much about what others are doing about staybolt ends.

One could acquire a snap with a "tit" in it by one means or another...but why? They are hard to control and with todays material they do not move all that much material. They can be used with great success to dress up a finished staybolt.
The best to use is a blunt face or slightly convex faced snap that extends out about 4" beyond the gun...the gun is to be a 60, no larger.

My two cents...

We now have some snaps with nipple for the telltale hole but haven't tried them as yet. What we have used is a snap that I put in a lathe and ground slightly concave. It seemed to very well for us.
