Post subject:  Seat Coverings...

We're in the process of rebuilding a business car, and one of the issues we are contending with is recovering the seats. Right now they are a mix of leather and naugahide (sp) and are a rather unattractive brown. We've had very good luck with vinyl for seat cushions in our caboose fleet, but we're hoping for something a little nicer for the business car. Does anyone have recommendations on a heavy duty cloth, or other covering that may provide a wider range of color and pattern? Cost is somewhat of an issue, naturally the less expensive the better. Anyway, any thoughts, opinions, or recommendations would be very appreciated.

Thanks in Advance, Taylor Rush, SVRR

Taylor,

I got the # 19 cab seats re-upholstered in Bend, and the material is a woven cloth back, heavy duty vinyl material. I can get the info on the material is you like. I thought they were expensive, but they did a real good job. The 19's seats are of course black, but I'm sure other colors are available. I believe I paid about $150 for the two seats. Re-upholstery shops might give a better price per seat on a larger order of several seats.
