Thanks

Keith,

I traced back the original manufacturer a few years ago and they weren't much help. They did offer to help me find a new replacement unit that they still sell.

One of our members in the Fort Wayne area took a motor apart and found a commercial plumbing supply company that had leather pump seals that fit the motor. Perhaps this is the best way to do this. I think the motors we had to redo were in our Alco S1, but they may have been from the Lima?

I assume we are speaking about leather packing cups. I recall two (possible) sources.

One is an outfit that advertises in 'Hemmings Motor News.' Can't recall the name, though.

The second source was (believe it or not), the local hardware outfit. I recall a rack with yellow plastic bins filled with all kinds of parts ranging from small electrical items to B&S engine parts. I recall finding a good selection of packing cups, along with motor brushes suitable for GE fuel pump motors.

McMaster-Carr has some Buna-N piston cups which might work if all else fails.

Try www.thomasnet.com for all manner of hard-to-find items such as we are speaking of.

Hey Keith,
You might try www.olsonsgaskets.com, he's a neighbor of mine who has a dizzying array of antique gaskets for almost everything, and ships stuff worldwide.

Cheers, Dave

FWIW, here is the OEM website: http://www.cvgrp.com/sprague.aspx

I would also search out and contact suppliers of bus parts.

If worse comes to worse, one could convert to electric wipers. I can supply a set of instructions.:-}
