These days the Vulcan is a display piece at a business in Columbus and 578 the subject of some discussion. I suspect 578 never left the museum grounds since. Gotta love that pumper truck!

ORM got its start in the mid 1950's. As a 40-something -year-old who's father was involved with ORM during the glory days of the 1960's, I have a vague memory of #1 under steam, many memories of 578 steaming, riding in the Times Square, the Williamsport, and even handling the throttle on #2 when I was a bit older. Today, I wonder how many museums have a history of their own operation?

I am not aware of any that have history documents per say.

but they mostly tell the ongoing story in their house publication. Western railway Museum has had the Review since the 1940s, Orange Empire Gazette, Seashore Trolley Museum Dispatch and the Pennsylvania Trolley Musem Trolley Fare all date from the 1950s.

If you goto the RYPN archives there was a long thread about museum news letters a few years ago. You might want a look.

My special interest is traction, but two main line museums that have long running quality publications are the Colorado Railroad Museum's Iron Horse News and Mid-Continent Railway Museum's Gazette.

I am sure that others can chime in with other museum publications.

With so many of the organizations having 50th anniversary celebrations; we can only hope that some histories will get written.
