In another thread on Pullman-Standard's Bessemer works, the subject got around to Pullman-Standard built PS-1 box cars. I wonder how many GENUINE PS-1's are formally preserved in museums, or in other locations. According to the other thread, at least 100,000 were built, and probably a lot more. Les |

6 at RMNE: 3 Maine Central 40-footers, one Rutland 40-footer, one B&M 40-footer and one B&M 50-footer. One MEC car was restored in 1997 and the Rutland car was painted in 2005 (in boxcar red, not green and yellow yet). The Rutland car retains roofwalk and high ladders; the other 5 have the 70s era modifications and lettering styles for now. None of them are empty. None of them are empty. "nature abhorrs a vacuum; railroad museums abhorr empty boxcars" Howard P. Thanks Howard! I didn't see a roster on the RMNE website so could you furnish road numbers when you get the chance? Les |
