In additon to RR preservation, I am involved in collecting Agricultural machinery as well. The current national president of the Early Days Gas Engine Assn., my longtime friend, Bill Keene, put it best;" We don't own any of this stuff, we just pay for the privilage of taking care of it and keeping it going for the next generation." lorija799@aol.com |

Having said that.... Any idea if there is an existing list of Steam Traction Engines out there? At some time in the near future, our museum will probably be hunting for a Port Huron Engine & Thresher, hence my question. Port Huron engines are fairly common, andcome available regularly. one neat thing about them is most all of them are tandem compound. however, Port Huron's Threshers were most all wood(I have never seen a metal one, but that doesn't mean they didn't make them), and alot of people bought their engines but preferred other makes of thresher. If you are serious, I think the Ford Museum has some Port Hurons stored that thy may make available to another historic group. lorija799@aol.com |
