That's great. Good to see other people engaging young men and women in historic preservation. By working with the schools, the preservation effort not only gains volunteer labor but passes on skills to another generation. A project like this not only teaches everyone involved history, but what community is truly about. |

If I read the article correctly, this is the second car preserved in Helena, the other being an open trailer, displayed in the pedestrian plaza in Last Chance Gulch. Other preserved cars in Montana include one in Missoula (for the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, but car is still in Ft Benton), and one in Butte (Butte's being used in adaptive reuse and needing proper trucks). There is also a carbody in Dillon (I think an ex-Butte-nee Helena car that is now probably adaptively reused too far from it's original traction roots. |
