Today I found out that Mr. Virgil Uhrich, well known as the founder of Uhrich Locomotive Works in Strasburg, Colorado, has passed away. I do not have complete information or any details other than that he was ill for some time, so this was expected.

Mr. Virgil installed and maintained water stations for SP back in the time of cab forwards and Daylights, and his original 15" gauge D&RGW 2-8-2 is one steamin' demon, especially when she gets fed some Monero coal. When I worked for Uhrich's as a machinist, Mr Virgil was the only one I paid any mind....

The viewing will be at 10am tomorrow at Strasburg Community Church, with the service at 11am, and a commitment ceremony afterwards at the cemetery in Bennett, Colorado. Please join me in offering condolances to the Uhrich family.
