This is a disappointing article as there is no sidebar that gives details about the museum (hours, exhibits, prices, contact info etc.). Also, the author does not describe the school group (private, parochial, or public?),ages and grades of students, number of students visiting, and number of parents volunteering. There was no credit to museum staff for arrangements/assistance. All-in-all, this was a "feel good" article.

It's tough for rail museums to be pro-active on this type of publicity, because there needs to be a good core of volunteers, some with media smarts—not easy with a small membership.

In a sense a great article… but it wasn’t about the museum, it was about teaching…

Although not about “us”, it can teach us a great deal… Its hard, sometimes difficult work to stay excited about what we are teaching (or talking about..) .

The kids were excited about the wires and the lights lighting up, this is a great opportunity for those of us with electric railroad collections… Note that the kids didn’t get excited until something happened…

And, yes, a side bar with information on the museum would have been great… How many of us have a one page hand out for reporters containing basic information like hours, fees, and special events?

In Broadcasting we have a saying:

"Any publicity is good if it gets the call letters right."

That applies here.
