A while back I was driving down 287 in Boonton NJ when I saw from my car at 65 mph what looked to be a collection of old passenger cars and a few vintage locomotives. Does anyone know the story behind these? Some said NJ transit, but I doubt any of it was in service.

You saw the latest resting place for the United Railroad Historical Society of NJ's collection of stuff, mostly donated by NJ Transit. This stuff was in the former MU yard at Morristown where it was subject to vandalism in a hostile neighborhood.

My understanding is the remaining stuff at Ridgefield Park and Milford is to be moved to Boonton in the next few months.
