Taken at the shop building in Duran, Ecuador: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10386678@N02/1270069852/ Dismembered to run a generator in the Shop. Anyone know what this started out as? Or if it could ever be put back together someday? Les |

Why would you want to reassemble it. Reassembled its in just another steam locomotive. But in its present state it is a one of a kind piece of equipment. A cross between steam locomotive and stationary steam technologies and should be preserved as such. |

SS- I don't WANT to reassemble it. What I was thinking is that ONE DAY, the unit may outlive its usefullness, or the Shop building itself could close. THEN, to save it, a reconstruction might be the only way. In the meantime, I completely agree with you, that in its present state is a very unique piece of equipment that hopefully will exist as it is, for many years. Les |

Even more remarkable are a pair of Japanese built 2-8-2s set up intact to run a generator (via their driving wheels as well) in a rice mill in Thailand: http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/steam/trains/thai03.htm |
