The past two weeks worth of discussions on lost and found steam, buried and sunken locomotives, rebuilding and refurbishing, etc., has been some of livliest and most enthralling exchange in this group for months. It seems we found one of those romantic railroad topics that everyone loves and everyone could contribute to. This has to have been some of the finest internet discussion that has gone on recently for railroad hobbiests.
The next turn is possibly something along these lines: redemption of abandoned (park and static locomotives; Lynchburg's 2760 comes immediatly to mind) and copying our bretheran and sisters in the U.K. to fund the complete reconstruction of a NYC J-3 Hudson, new, from the railhead up.
Would anyone care to take a positive minded stroll along this track?

I have been following the A1 Steam Trust in England, they are the folks who are building a main line Pacific of a classs that did not make it out of the Barry Scrapyard.

I don't know a lot about British Steam, but they are doing the job right. I will leave the comments on what engine to build, but say here they are getting a lot of good articles, TV time and a great web site. They have done all that is necessary to have the engine run over the national rail lines. They have a place to store it when not in use, and a place to work on it.
They have built a second tender because the Diesel railroads do not have a place to water a steam engine any more.

Go to the A1Trust site; its a dandy!
