Described by Adolf Hungry Wolf in his 1996 TRAINS OF CUBA booklet as "one of Cuba's oldest operating locomotives": http://www.flickr.com/photos/mzahra1/22 ... otostream/ The Mogul does not look operable today! IF this is really #1501 (as it appears to be) it is an 1894 Rogers (s/n 5000) originally built as a 2-6-4T Forney. Is this one of those that was listed on the "For Sale" list a while back? 1501 is one of a group of particularly rare or unusual locomotives that have been moved to Havana for a future railroad museum. It includes the oldest locomotives still found on the island, along with a Henschel and some other locomotives/items already in Havana. |
