Built by Baldwin in April 1896 (s/n 14789) for the St. Paul & Duluth Railroad as their #71. The StP&D was merged into the Northern Pacific in 1900 and at that time the 0-6-0 was given number 927 and assigned class L-4. Somewhere along the line, NP rebuilt her as a tank engine and she was given the number 10. Donated to Brainerd, Minnesota, she was displayed in Lum Park for many years. Purchased by the gentlemen that run the Iron Horse Central in Chisago City, and now apparently undergoing a restoration back to a tender engine. Does anyone know where the tender is coming from? Or if it is being built new?

Notice the band shrunk around the crank pin on the main driver. Also the main drivers have plates screwed over the counter weights to make them into main drivers. The NP used whatever they could find to keep that loco running! The Iron Horse Central is insular and private so they could run it but I wouldn't to run it very fast. It was basically junk when it was donated to the city of Brainerd. :) (good for display only).
