Does anyone know what type of light bulb is used in the sight glass? It looks like a regular household bulb holder but I am not sure what bulb would be fitted. One day we will get her interior lights working again!

It would have been originally a 32v D.C. system, but if you want to get the lights working again for static display it would make more sense to switch to 110v A.C. lighting. A refrigerator bulb would do the trick.

Thanks very much! After the cab is restored we hope to get her interior lighting working. Thanks for letting me know. It did have 110V connected but this might be disconnected soon.

Are you putting a fence around the locomotive? You need to illuminate all her lamps and lights, but without a fence or shelter, you are tossing money into the wind. I do want to compliment you and everyone involved (I do hope it's more than a one man operation) for pouring your considerable efforts into this locomotive.

Thanks for the kind words. So far it is a two man job. Restoration is on hold at the moment until the asbestos is dealt with. Sadly there is still asbestos in the cab that has to be removed before this can be restored and opened up for public tours.
There is a wrought iron fence around it at the moment but shortly there will be a much higher chain link fence put in place.

The sight glass bulbs are 32Volt, 15 watt.

Hope this helps,

Or, if there is a concern about running 110VAC around something that if groundleaked might be a pretty shocking experience for visitors, you can use landscape light transformers and 12 volt fixtures altered from automotive supply sources.
