This past Saturday, April 19 began National Park Week, and Steamtown National Historic Site returned to regular steam operations with CP no. 2317. Her assignment on most days will be running the Scranton Limited trains around the railroad yard. Additional rail experiences on Steamtown's hand car, and the Electric City Trolley Museum's ride filled out the fun. Weather was in the 80s, and people poured out to take the trips. I hope this is the beginning of a beautiful season. Steamtown's other big power, CN no. 3254 left the roundhouse Saturday for the locomotive shop to begin her annual inspection, and turn down tires on her trailing truck. She should be back in steam by late June, when the excursion season begins. |
