There have been several complaints about the difficulty of posting photographs on here. It really is not difficult. First, like most forums, your photos need to be already on the web, but Google has provided an excellent FREE method for doing this, Picasa2, for up to one gigabyte (1024 MB), which for most is several thousand photos.

You sign up at http://picasaweb.google.com/

You can even "drag and drop" photos from your computer into Picasa 2, as well as using it to edit them. Once they are there, you can post them on here after a few steps. If any are interested, I can describe those simple steps.

I've got 503 prototype photos on there myself.

the question is..
does picasa/google allow hotlinking of photos directly into forums or webpages? many (most) photo hosting sites do not..

if not, you could post the LINK to the photo, but not have the photo actually appear in the message..the message would turn into one of those error images after a few hours or days..

I have been using photobucket for a few years now, they do allow linking into forum threads and webpages.

http://photobucket.com

one think to keep in mind, it is "generally accepted internet forum etiquette" to keep photos that are inserted into messages at 640 pixels wide or less...like thus:

posting photos larger than 640 pixels wide makes people have to scroll side-to-side to see the whole photo, and huge images are large in physical size, and in file size...which is annoying for dial-up because your 3,000 X 2,000 pixel image will take weeks to load! ;)

ah! I see this forum has solved the "giant photo" problem by inserting scroll bars right into the forum for larger images..
that works..looks like anything over 600 pixels will scroll..
(although IMO the window could realistically be a bit larger! ;)
perhaps 700 max..)

but still...you dont want to insert huge images..

I've been wondering why this site doesn't have direct photo hosting. It can be done.
I've been using Village Photo for hosting my photo's that I want to post on a forum that doesn't host photos directly. It works very well, and no pop-up's or advertising on it.

Picasa allows unlimited picture posting on forums, I use it to post photos on several model railroad forums. Here's one I took:

Image

This is actually:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/Gregg.Mahlkov/PrototypePhotos/photo#5069700582440006098"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/Gregg.Mahlkov/Rlsx0b3tcdI/AAAAAAAAASs/O06MkyPrDtM/s400/BEDT15night%20%282%29.jpg" /></a>

To post it here between the bracketed "img" and "/img", everything before and including the src=" and after .jpg needs to be deleted. That's a couple of second's worth of time to do. It can also be posted at 800 pixels, but that requires scrolling. I usually post at 800, though.
