Photos from this past weekend's spring work session at the WW&F Ry Museum. Amazing turnout for another spectacular weekend in Maine!

On Saturday, when these photos were taken, at least 90 volunteers were on hand. They didn't just do trackwork, either. Other folks installed hand brakes on two cars, installed several new windows in a coach and painted portions of the new water tank. And we can't forget the folks who worked in the kitchen to feed the workers. It's their own fault if anyone goes hungry during one of these weekends!

how much track was completed? I couldn't find this out on the museum's website.

I am always impressed with what they can accomplish in one weekend!!!

We put about 1,100 feet of track into service, just short of MP 7. That gives us about 2.2 miles of line. In the fall, we hope to lay about 1,200 feet of new track, depending on rail availability.

What size rail is used there?

We use 56# or 60# rail.

And anyone who has any good leads for this size rail is welcome to contact me at ed@spongeawareness.com. We may even have some 70# rail we can trade.
