Penn State Model Railroad Club http://clubs.psu.edu/mrrc Just don't try to visit over the summer - major work going on in the building, anything not nailed down or built into the room (i.e., everything but the layout) is in storage for the summer with the layout under tarps until classes pick up again in the fall.

MIT has one as well, I think theirs is called the Tech Model RR Club.

Offhand, I think Milwaukee School of Engineering and Purdue both have one as well.

There have been two such clubs at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. One started in the 1940s and the other, then the Men's Residence Halls Model RR Club, in 1958 or 1959. I was a member from 1960, along with Jim Boyd and others. It still exists, having changed its name to that of the earlier Illini Railroad Club, which sponsored so many Burlington and other steam trips.

The Steam Railroading Institute started out in 1969 as the Michigan State University Railroad Club. We became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1980 and took ownership of Pere Marquette 1225 shortly thereafter.
