Not only were there 3 ft. guage Consolidations lettered for the Interoceanico, but for the Oriental Mexicano as well, at least in 1962:

Taken at San Lazaro roundhouse in 1968, near the end of active NdeM narrow gauge steam: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 4&nseq=222 The Consolidation still is lettered for F.C.I., which NdeM had taken over some years prior to the photo. Is this an oil refueling station, or just an elaborate water tank? The engine is sharp! And now on display in Mexico City. How does she look today? Les |

No matter what the gauge, Mexican Narrow gauge sure was pretty! Looks like 12, just...bigger. I understand there is one like this running still. |
