Post subject:  Scrap Dealer Laws in Delaware

Delaware recently passed a new set of laws requiring people who bring in scrap metal to provide photo ID and dealer must hold the material for 18 days. Scrap dealers want this law scrapped saying it will hurt their business.

Seems that if other states had similar laws it may help deter theft of railroad related items. (Although Pawn shops acting on similar laws still do a thriving business in stolen property) It is so bad here in Delaware that thieves were stealing storm drains and man hole covers and selling them for scrap.
