Photo taken in 1947 with Delaware & Hudson 4-6-0 # 506 on the table: http://www.bridge-line.org/blhs/images/ ... im/506.jpg Same table today with Alco of the Upper Hudson River Railroad on the same table: http://www.uhrr.com/index.asp?lg=1&w=ph ... =8&phid=43 The turntable was apparently rebuilt about 5 years ago with modern controls. I had thought that "open pits" like this one, were a more modern adaptation for turntables, but it appears that the 1947 photo shows that type of arrangement. There supposedly is an old one-stall wooden enginehouse also being used at this location. Les |

Those are some spiffy facilities for a short line. Looks like a classy operation. |

Nice table... but the photo raises a question that someone may know the answer to without me having to research it... The table appears to be somewhat similar to the ex-CofGa table at TVRM. Having run it literally hundreds of times, you get an indelible image in your mind with things like the add-on electric tractor that powers the table. TVRM's was originally installed in Macon, GA, in 1916 as an "armstrong" powered center balance table. It was later motorized with an add-on arrangement that appears identical to the one pictured here. Was someone selling an add-on "upgrade your turntable for only $1999.95 with our handy electrification kit!" for the many unpowered center balance tables which were common in the earlier part of the last century? Anyone know? No, I haven't looked at my 1930 Cyclopedia to see yet, as I'm currently out of town. Just curious... Best, Mike |

Not sure of current status, but there was a wooden D&H milk car in the enginehouse. There are very, very few wooden milk cars left, of any ilk. Rob |
