http://www.wtoctv.com/Global/story.asp? ... v=menu89_2 Cool....but from where did this piece of history come? And in what condition? And, BTW, when is the Melbourne car going into service? Sloan |

Sloan Sloan - Yes, it would be great if someone from the Roundhouse Railroad Museum could give us this information on the car. And at least advise of its railroad heritage (reporting marks and road number). A photo would be nice too. Les |

Sounds to me like one of the French 40-&-8 cars......... |

Maybe. But the story stated, "Thousands were built to get goods to the east coast for the war effort". If the reporter got this fact right (and I admit that that's a VERY big if), it doesn't fit a French 40 & 8 car scenario. Les |

Back in my tenure there we identified several pieces which would fill holes in the collections. Can't recall what we recommended as far as boxcars go, but there were some old cars used as storage units in various industries under consideration. This might have been one of those, or something else entirely.......just pleased to see collections development being taken seriously there again. dave |

dave Dave - Certainly a photo would answer the question. Can we possibly get someone in that area to go over to the museum and take one? Les |
