KCS #42(Budd, 1948, nee NYC #49), when retired by KCS, was sold to the Brewton Lumber Co in Winnfield, LA, later Louisiana Pacific Corp, used as a plant lunch room/conference center. Georgia Pacific took over LP properties in Louisiana, closed the Winnfield plant and moved car to Urania, LA, across from the entrance to their plant there, used as a hospitality center. Urania plant closed 4-5 years ago. Car was well protected as it was directly across from 24 hour manned guard shack.

Yesterday, car was trucked out on a lowboy, made it to Vidalia, LA(75 miles) the first day. It is on its way to Gloster, MS, to the GP plywood mill there, to probably serve the same hospitality/conference center purposes.

It will then be 35 miles away from sister car KCS #41(NYC 51) at Jackson, LA(used as private party room, part of Southern Belle Antiques).
The two other sisters are known as MARC 1(KCS#40, NYC #50) in Baltimore, and ARTX 105(KCS#43, NYC #48) currently at MSP Amtrak station, where it has been since fall 2005, being rebuilt for Artrain. Since Artrain is moving to trucks, it will never get to serve its role as the tail end car of the exhibit train. Its future is unknown.
