If anyone is ever in the area of Clifton Forge VA. Stop by and check out the restored 1896 freight depot. This is the start of a series of heritage museums.

Guys,

I also heard this weekend that a 1.6" scale C&O Allegheny is being donated to the museum. This may be the one built by Andy Clerici in California about 20 years ago. I last heard it was on display in Kansas City Union Station. Not exactly the best location to display a museum quality C&O steam locomotive.

I also heard that a 1.5" scale C&O K class 2-8-2 has been donated as well. I believe this locomotive was built by Bill Bursey, a former C&O/Chessie employee who started out working for his dad in the Clifton Forge shops back in the 40's. He literally built most of the components for this Mike by memory. He showed me a stack of scrap paper in his tool box. They were filled with sketches of various pieces and parts and said "There are my drawings!" It's a gorgeous locomotive with countless features not usually found on engines this size such as starter valves for the injectors, functioning rocking grates and a true to scale low water alarm.

I also understand that they are purchasing enough rail to lay 4,000' or so of 7.5" gauge track on the grounds. Is this true?

Thanks in advance,

Rob Gardner
