| Post subject: | Back to the Future-Literally... |
With the continued interest in light rail and modern streetcar lines, many cities are going back to the future to meet the transportation needs of their citizenry. The general operating principals remain the same as 100 years ago, but the technology has improved. The motorman of yore would marvel at the ease with which modern cars are operated. No more physically horsing the heavy motor controller arm around, your seat is a comfortable captain's chair in an enclosed and air conditioned cab, cameras to watch over the passengers and the street. |

Without any malicious intent, I have to ask if Sloan is familiar with the flimsies function? Since Sloan is very active with posting newspaper links maybe he could volunteer to help keep up the flimsies section. There are some factual errors in the story, and I disagree with the author about the use of "Trolley" verus "Streetcar" in Fort Worth, but we appreciate the publicity. There is a better (longer) article also released today at http://fortworthology.com/2008/07/09/a-vintage-fort-worth-streetcar-comes-home/ which I posted to the flimsies section. |
