A group is forming to run excursions over former SP trackage in the Willamette Valley in Oregon.Power will be diesel and former SP M-6 class 2-6-0 1785 currently on display near the UP (SP) mainline in Woodburn, Oregon. I'll try to post the link to the (Salem) Statesman-Journal article. shawsinoly@aol.com |

Wasn't that the engine that was featured in L&RP once? I just hope these guys don't make the same tired old mistakes and get these high hopes of restoring a steam locomotive before they have established the tourist operation. Last thing we need is yet another intact display steamer torn apart with no plans or money to put it back together. todengine@woh.rr.com |

SP 1785 at Woodburn, last I knew, was in top-notch cosmetic condition due to the almost singlehanded efforts of Frank Scheer of Portland. Virtually everything that should be done to save and cosmetically restore a park steamer has been done to this engine, and it has gone from eyesore to showpiece. Last I knew, the City of Woodburn even featured it on the home page of their website. Wasn't that the engine that was featured in > L&RP once?
