Cagney minature locomotive enthusiasts might want to look at this on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dl ... 1063637567 It is supposedly the Class D Cagney (15-inch gauge) behind which President McKinley rode at the Buffalo exposition in 1901, the day before he was shot. bobyar2001@yahoo.com |

People with that kind of money didn't get it by buying a pig in a poke. Anything over $20'000 limits who can afford to buy it. Even clubs have a hard time to raise that kind of money. Its good to see this stuff on Ebay but I think you could count on the fingers on one hand the people who would want, and could afford the asking price for several of the park and narrow gage trains that are available. There seems to be a lot of them for sale. 2rivers@upstel.net |

I know of a couple of Crown engines, which are patterned after the Cagney, that sold in excess of that price some year and a half or so ago. The price included 3 cars in both cases. I figure that the engine in each case represented more than $30,000 of the sale. With materials , castings, and machine work the price it is now you could never duplicate one for that price. As for the inspections mentioned, that would be a must. It protects both the seller and the buyer in that without it the seller could be a victim of the buyers lack of knowledge and held responsible for parts failure or even an accident.Steam is not very forgiving.
