F unit at Steamtown, said to be taken Sept.' 03. Despite the Western Maryland lettering, I think it is ex-Milwaukee, an FP7 passenger unit.

Did it find a home yet?

Considering there is no shortage of Milwaukee FP7's extant, it might not be too evil to replicate one of these with it:

This particular loco was formerly on the Maryland Midland in those colors before going to Steamtown, and yes, I believe it is a MILW FP7.

The lettering marks indicate the reporting marks of the Central NY Chapter NRHS in Syracuse; what they would do with it (if they still have/own it) is anyone's guess. Meanwhile, an associate of mine has taken title to the F7 formerly known as 637 (a former KCS unit?) and has supposedly relocated it from the Tobyhanna "junk line" to a locomotive storage facility in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area.

Hello All

Kind of sad to see that engine rotting away, the Steamtown F's always held a special place in my heart. The "WM" liveried engine is indeed a former MILW unit. It and the "Lackawanna 637" were aquired by the CNY chapter years ago for a project idea which was eventually scrapped. Only the 637 (a fomer MILW unit as well) went to NY state, the "WM" unit never left PA. Both were disposed of individually. The "WM" unit is owned by another party now (not sure who), though it still resides in Scranton. The former KCS unit was not aquired by CNY Chapter, but rather by someone else 'down South and went south with the TVRM 5288 steamer. If memory serves the WM and Lackawanna units were MILW 97A and 97C. I believe only the Lackawanna liveried unit was the only one to see use by the Steamtown Foundation.

One of those Milw F units would of been great for our museum in Sturtevant, as the equipment we have is all ex milwaukee road and will all be Stuffed and mounted. We are still looking for a Diesel that could be used for display only, all the stuff to make it work could be removed.
