Maybe our the coverage of our forum members doesn't cover the K&K area but can anyone please answer the following?

What was indeed damaged in the fire? Any photos?

Forum postings are railfan.net, railroad.net etc. indicate that the railroad was sold and is being scrapped, maybe the rolling stock too. Does anyone know what's going on?

I don't believe the "silence" is so much intentional or malicious as a combination of two simple facts:

1) the stuff in question is private property, owned by a somewhat reclusive owner who hardly has any real motivation to speak publicly or issue any statements on the matter, and those who do talk with the Cornells are probably wisely holding their tongues for now;

2) Kane, Pa. isn't the end of the world, but in a sense is the "end" of Pennsylvania--there just isn't much in the way of railfan "traffic" through there as there would be at, say, Orbisonia, New Hope, Strasburg, Port Clinton, or Arden.

In addition, let's not forget that arson was suspected, and that there could still be ongoing legal or criminal investigations hampering any visible or invisible progress.

It is to my understanding that the Kovalchicks (owners of the EBT) have bought are are in the final process of buying the K&K property, assumingly to scrap in place....I really can't see them running excursions on it.

I don't have any idea about the remaining equipment, but its going to be easy to assume that it too will meet the torch of no solid plans are made to salvage anything soon.

What a shame really, hopefully the H&BTM 38 doesn't get scrapped. Also there are several LIRR ping pongs here aren't there? They are probably in the best condition of any existing ones. Hopefully someone can get parts off whatever gets chopped.
