Post subject:  Doubleheaded Ks

In New Zealand. The former are American-built Rogers 2-4-2s, dumped as rip-rap in the 1930s, dug out in the 1980s and restored to operation, pretty amazing. A third sister was also rescued, but remains a battered hulk.

The latter are 4-8-4s, putting on a good show in 1994.

Impressive video.

You can rent the Rogers "Washington" for a few hundred dollars for a half day and drive it yourself.

Were those Rogers engines built stateside (namely Paterson) or were they built in NZ? They are gorgeous! I saw a fireman with a scoop; are they coal fired or wood?
