I just finished reading the RYPN News that was written by Bob Yarger and on page 2 he wrote about using this place to make things known. Well, this past summer I was out exploring some abandoned RR's and came across this town. I saw the station and decided to check out the area. BTW this is where the TP&W and the ex-Wabash (abandoned) used to cross. After walking around a bit I found one other thing of significance besides the station. A turntable still in place back in the trees. I thought this was the greatest thing to find. A couple of months passed with a little research (I grew up in a C&NW family) and I found out that Forrest used to be an important division point on the Wabash. Anyways, this is just an eyeball opinion but I thought this place would be a good little museum either for the town or the Wabash history. The station looked alright and with some TLC could be a neat little building. If the grounds around the station were cleaned up you could have a little walking path with interpretive displays. I wrote the Wabash Historical group and it didn't seem to spark anybody, one person replied and said that he thought the town owned the land. I don't know anything about starting something like this but I've got some extra elbow grease laying around. From what I know there probably aren't too many Wabash turntables still in their pit. Just thought I'd put this out there for public knowledge.

You did better than I did. I found the old radial tracks just east of the station, where a table had been--apparently there was another one I didn't see (didn't want to wade through the weeds on a really soggy day!). Please, let us know the length.

As a bonus if removed you will get the surrounding trees in the pit that are big enough to be used for ties or timber.
