Project 113 has been awarded the 2008 NRHS Railway Heritage Grant. These monies will be used toward final phases of the locomotive restoration. We thank this organization for their continued contributions for preservation and support.

Within the next 45 days CNJ 113 will go undergo its hydrostatic test so to be in compliance with FRA (1472 service day rule) regulations. Sometime during the fall 113 will undergo its initial steam tests.

Once again, if you like steam, Pennsylvania is becoming nirvana.

Can't wait. (would look really cool "switching" some CNJ coaches, or next to 425, or ...)

Too bad not everybody who awaited it will be here on that happy day.

well their making history, CNJ 113 will be the only working CNJ steam locomotive in the world, and the only steam locomotive that can burn hard coal in operations.
It been neat to see her teamed up with 425.

You're obviously disregarding the two anthracite-burning 0-4-0T's at Ashland's Pioneer Coal Mine Tunnel.............

Right now there are no plans as to where and how the locomotive will run. Our main concern is to get the locomotive operational.

When Len stated that this will be the only operational anthracite burning locomotive, he probably meant standard gauge, commercial railroad. We always clarified that when writing for grants.

Fantastic success story. Congratulations guys!
It is wonderful to read of another steam revival amongst so many notices of gloom and doom.
