Post subject:  C&TS- Rail Preservation & Cultural History

Last Sunday the C&TS ran their "picnic train" from Chama to Cunbres & back. During the hour lunch stop, members of the Jicarilla Apache Nation in traditional garb performed traditional dances & related their history to those onboard.

To me this is a win/win situation. The C&TS riders are both entertained & informed while the Jicarillas gain exposure to the riders. Their town of Dulce is not far from Chama. Hopefully, some C&TS riders will be inspired to visit the Jicarilla Cultural Center & Museum to learn more. This example of living history seems to me much more important than some staged "train robbery".
