I am a little late posting this, but around this time last month Cass Scenic Railroad (Western Maryland) Shay #6 made the 67 mile trip from Cass, WV to Elkins, WV. This was the first time a steam engine had been over the entire line in decades and the first time that a Cass Steam engine or any steam engine for that matter had been in Elkins since the 70's. The top speed of Shay 6 during the trip was just around 11 mph. Two photo runbys where made along the way. Shay 6 performed flawlessly throughout the trip. For those who missed this trip, we hope to make a similar one next year. The trip was sponsored by the Mountain State Railroad and Logging Historical Association, Cass Scenic Railroad, Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad and the West Virginia Central.
