| Post subject: | Brass Boiler Pressure gauge? |
Does anyone know where to buy Brass boiler pressure gauges? Either new or in used but good condition? I am asking for a Cass Railroad engineer. The gauge on the engine now is a newer one and its not brass. Just doesnt look as good. |

Alternatively why not get a new one. Far easier than trying to find a suitable second-hand one, then getting it overhauled and calibrated. Pressure gauges must work, as well as looking right. The S.M.Gauge Co, of Fishponds, Bristol, England, Purveyors of quality brass pressure gauges, will make one to your specification, with a certificate of calibration. On most locomotives the operating pressure of the boiler is usually right at or near the top of the gauge. For example, the operating pressure for a CNR k5a Hudson is 275 lbs psi. 275 would be at the top. On this gauge however 120 lbs psi is at the top. There weren't too many full sized locomotives around with an operating pressure of 120 lbs psi. |
