We all know of the early 2-8-0 at the RR Museum of Pa. Apparently, there was a later one also.

Very common for PRR to reuse numbers.

I work with B4a 643 at Williams Grove, which was off the PRR roster before 1920. I know of at least two other PRR 643's, a A5 0-4-0 and a MP54.

"Penn Central Steam Locomotive #1187"

I do not believe PC ever owned steam locomotives.

Penn Central own the PRR collection located at North Thuberlin round house, They donated the collection to the railroad Museum Of Pennsylvania in the late 1960's.

1187 was one of thoses's locomotive's. This locomotive was bougfht by Schuylkill Valley Stone Co. and later was own by the Dyers Stone Co. It was traded back to the PRR for the 1939 worlds fair with another steam locomotive a B8 0-4-0 which is still in the bottom of the quarry.

Try "Northumberland, Pa. roundhouse"

Actually, it was on loan by Penn Central until around 1980 when the Commonwealth slapped a lien on the collection as part of an effort to collect tens of millions in back corporate taxes. As I recall the state and PC negotiated a write-down of the debt in exchange for the collection, with an independent appraisal.

Not touching the rest of this story with a 39-foot rail, but a PRR B8 would be an 0-6-0 similar to PRR B4a 643 at Williams Grove............
