Montour Railroad Crane X-1 Back Home

The newly formed Montour Railroad Historical Society in Pittsburgh, Pa just received the donation of Montour Railroad X-1, an Ohio Locomotive Crane from Jerry Joe Jacobson & the Ohio Central Railroad System. The X-1 was sold off when the Montour ceased operations and went to Dennison Ohio. Eventually the Ohio Central came into possession of the crane and was not part of the sell off to the Genesee and Wyoming. The crane now rests at T A R Storage of Canonsburg which was the site of Montour #4 coal mine on the old right-of way of the Montour Railroad. The old roadbed is now the Montour Trail. Plans are to steam clean, sandblast and paint and letter it to original condition.

That is great news about the Ohio Crane. About a month ago I asked Jerry about its status and he replied that he had considered scrapping it. I am pleased that it has found a new home and will be cared for! Thanks to you and Jerry for preserving this locomotive crane.
If you send me the construction number I can look up its history for you.
