With its larger (from a 4-8-2?) tender, added during restoration.

The tender is from L&N L-1 class 4-8-2 number 408. As far as I know, it was the only welded L-1 tank on the L&N, at least from the photographic evidence. Of note, it has an interesting vertical welded patch on the fireman's side, apparently from a roll-over.

The tender was mated to 152 during her original restoration, as it has more coal and water capacity than the ex GM&O tender it ran with in its late L&N career. It would be nice to see 152 paired with a smaller tender, either a reproduction of the ex GM&O tank (the original is in rough shape) or an L&N standard type.

What an excellent photo of a beautiful locomotive.

I think the tender is just the right size for a balanced look. I did not realize it was added when 152 was restored for excursion service nor that a welded tender was rare on the L&N.
