Frank Hicks' roster of preserved electric cars shows only one Kankakee car in Kankakee. That one is a 1917-built car. The newspaper's reference to a 1950s car is puzzling.

There is indeed only one Kankakee car preserved in the city; my best guess is that the other "streetcar" they're referring to is something completely different, possibly a speeder or even a motor bus. Both Kankakee streetcar lines (yes, there were two separate streetcar companies in the town) were abandoned c1931-1932, if memory serves, so the claim that the "trolley car" was used for lodging during the World's Fair is plausible. The car owned by the museum, North Kankakee Electric Light & Railway 114, is one of three Kankakee streetcars known to survive: sister car NKEL&R 116 is owned by IRM and the body of an unidentified American Car Company-built single-trucker from Kankakee Electric Railway is still located behind the Riviera Restaurant north of Gardner, just off of I-55.
