Post subject:  Bartlett Roundouse

This group plans to save the former Maine Central four-stall roundhouse at Bartlett, New Hampshire, on the former MEC Mountain Division now operated by the Conway Scenic Railroad. Bartlett is located just north of North Conway. The structure has been owned by the State of New Hampshire since 1958 and was used for many years as a salt storage shed. The turntable was removed several decades ago and replaced by switches when motive power, as large as 2-6-6-2s, got longer. Originally six stalls in size, the building serviced pusher engines for freight trains through Crawford Notch and was reduced to the present four stalls around the time of dieselization.
