Indeed this is awesome. Glad to see it and that the group is planning on moving on to additional projects as they come available. Reminds me of a story I heard about the Surrey Sussex and Southampton so I looked it up and found this... http://www.dendronva.org/boxcar_project13.html And those guys up in Phillips Maine have tackled a few boxcars as well. http://srrl-rr.org/Projects/Box_121/Box_121.htm I tried to save an early 1900s boxcar in eastern Illinois but could not find any interested takers. It was in better condition than these, but then again, the C&EI is not a cute narrow gauge, is more recently gone (although the main line is still there) and had other surviving pieces of equipment. Great job guys! I only see grey hairs though. Just like so many other facilities around the country. We have an N6b wooden caboose that I took downto the metal chassis four years ago. It has been sand blasted and painted but the rebuild is a long ways off since we have a severe shortage of volunteers and money. Keep up the good work. Later! Mr. Ed Trustee PTHT And Scott-we still have roller bearing trucks for your N5c. Contact me and we can discuss price if you want. |
