They have a third ex-D&H RS3 that is in the process of being put in service. I think 3 RS3's in revenue freight service is noteworthy in 2008-9.

Actually it's 6 RS-3's in Scranton. DL 4118 and DL 4103, former D&H engines that have been running for some time. DL 4068 is another former D&H engine that has just been re-habbed and should hit the road in the next few days (the paint is litterally still drying).

There is a former Reading unit on display at Steamtown, (on loan to the DL from the ARHS, displayed in at the NPS site). Our RS-3 parts donors (one ex NYC, one ex L&HR) can be counted as well.

The Railroad Museum of Long Island has former Long Island Railroad RS-3 1556.

The Nevada Northern also has an RS-3. 105 or 108, not sure one is an RS-2

Unofficial production figures:

383 RS-2

1370 RS-3

Off the top of my head, I would say that extant RS-2's number 1-2% of the total, with RS-3's running about 3-4 %.

I understand all three DL ex-D&H RS3's operated together for the first time today in Scranton, all in the D&H style back and yellow paint scheme. Hopefully one of our Scranton posters give give us a photo.

That's awesome Dave! It took me a minute to realize those were modern cars in the background and the hopper was bigger than the RS-3's.

Here's my contribution to the roll call:
Green Bay & Western 301 and 303.
Became Ann Arbor 301 and 303. Owned by the Michigan Interstate (operator of the southern Ann Arbor RR.)
Sold to the Southern Michigan Railroad Society, 303 was repainted New York Central 8203 (cigar-band scheme).
SMRS sold them to a private collector, who apparently had no place to put them so they moved only a few miles to Adrian Michigan, in a bad part of town. Both were vandalized, one was torched. Eventually my understanding is they moved to Wisconsin. I don't know their fate.
