With the Largest Railroading event coming to Owosso next summer, site preparation is in full swing. Nearly 1000ft of additional track, several new switches, realigning existing track and constructing a 3000ft miniature railroad is moving forward. Most of the major track work, grading and leveling of the property will be finished by the first part of November. Over the winter, new track panels will be constructed for the miniature railroad to be laid in the spring. Additional property improvements are scheduled over the next few months. If you are interested in helping out and volunteering your time please contact the Steam Railroading Institute at 989-725-9464.

Thanks for sharing. It looks like a lot of effort is being put into making this a really worthwhile event. Best of luck.

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

JD,

The miniature railroad will indeed be 1.5" scale - 7.5" gauge. It will be a "dogbone" and around 3000ft in length going from one end of the property to other. It will be a permanent addition to the museum. It will be used to move people from one end of the festival to the other as well as entertainment.

Jason,

Great news. Will there be a club or can anyone run on the live steamer track?

Have you finished your model yet?
